Valerie Fowke

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and registered individual member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, (BACP). I offer in-person, online and telephone counselling.

Taking the first step in seeking counselling support can feel scary and confusing, as you search for a counsellor you feel will be able to help you. If you are reading this, then you have been courageous in acknowledging that you need support and are now on the first steppingstone to accessing and receiving help.

We all have experiences throughout everyday life that can at times feel overwhelming, contributing to feelings of stress, anxiety, low mood, sleep difficulties and lack of motivation in doing the things we may normally enjoy. Changes that naturally occur through life such as parenthood, adolescence, change in work roles, menopause, retirement, bereavement, and loss, including loss of relationship, separation and divorce can all impact on how we feel and function on a daily basis.

If life currently feels a struggle for you or you have experienced an incident or event that is affecting how you are managing and coping with daily life or are feeling anxious or experiencing low mood, then counselling can help.

As an Integrative counsellor, my aim is to develop a relationship with you that promotes a sense of safety and trust that encourages you to become comfortable in sharing your difficulties with me. This will hopefully enable you to explore the challenges you may be struggling to overcome. Talking through your concerns with a counsellor allows you time and space to process the experiences that may be contributing to your current challenges whilst increasing your awareness and understanding of your of them. The relationship I develop with you will be instrumental in supporting you and help you to recognise your capabilities in managing your difficulties.

I have many years’ experiences in a variety of roles supporting adults and children through life’s challenges including those that have experienced traumatic events. This has enabled me to develop my understanding, skills and compassion when working with clients and helping them progress through their difficulties.

My ability to listen, hear and support you to express, process and make sense of your difficulties within a nurturing, warm, empathic therapeutic relationship can promote the progression in your sense of wellbeing.

Please email me on the address below if you would like me to contact you to discuss your needs, and to get a sense of if I may be the right counsellor for you.
